About EM Tech Day

The EM Tech Day started back in 2016 at the former Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência and had four editions held across Portugal. After a break due to the pandemic, we are excited to bring it back to where it all began — Gulbenkian, in Oeiras — and, with the sponsorship from SPMicros, celebrate 10 years since the beginning of the EM Tech Days.

This year, we will explore a workflow that brings together three imaging worlds: Electron Microscopy, Histopathology, and Light Microscopy — The Histo-CLEM workflow.

Histo-CLEM allows us to correlate the same location of the same sample across different imaging modalities, connecting information from the micro to the nanoscale. During the meeting, we will explore the theory behind CLEM and, most importantly, show how accessible this approach can be — using simple tools and equipment that are already available in many laboratories.

Our goal is to bring together the Electron Microscopy community in Portugal, while also welcoming colleagues from Histopathology and Light Microscopy who are interested in bringing CLEM into their own laboratories and crossing the borders between the Micro and Nano worlds.

The meeting will be a full day of talks, discussions, and hands-on sessions. And, keeping with EM Tech Day tradition, participation is completely free!

Come join us, learn something new, share your experience, and help us bring the Micro and Nano worlds closer together.
